Resin printing is great for detail, but uncured resin is a skin irritant and can cause allergic reactions. The basics:

Wear nitrile gloves (not latex) and eye protection whenever you handle resin or wet prints.

Work in a ventilated room. Do not print in a bedroom or kitchen.

Wash prints in the cleaning liquid your resin calls for (often IPA, or water…

A very short guide. Always check the range on your own spool, as brands differ.

PLA: easiest to print and good for display pieces and prototypes. Softens at around 55 to 60 °C, so do not leave it in a hot car.

PETG: tougher and more heat resistant than PLA, good for functional parts. Tends to string.

Warping happens when a print cools unevenly and the corners curl up. Try these:

Clean the bed and check the first layer (see the first layer checklist in Beginners’ Corner).

Use a brim, or mouse ears on sharp corners.

Keep draughts away. An enclosure or even a cardboard box around the printer helps a lot for ABS, ASA and sometimes PETG.

Raise the bed…

Thin hairs between parts of a print are called stringing. Common causes, roughly in order of how often they are to blame:

Wet filament. Filament absorbs moisture from the air. Crackling or popping sounds and rough surfaces are a clue. Dry it in a filament dryer or a low oven setting made for the purpose (check the temperature for your material),…

Clean the bed. Fingerprints and oils are the number one cause. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol (IPA), or wash a PEI sheet with warm water and dish soap.

Level or run the mesh. Re-level the bed, or run auto bed levelling, with the bed and nozzle at printing temperature.
